JIM LEE: Letter to the Editor: THE GOD OF CONFUSION. Rev. John Balding’s “The Challenge of Jesus” p.38, Advocate 27/11/08 is certainly one of challenge. No one in all honesty, really knows what brought about the creation of all species of life on this planet. We will most likely never know. But to say it is a God who communicates with mankind is a little hard to come to grips with. The reality is that those who believe in God believe so by faith.

There also could be other forms of life in other galaxies that we have no idea of at this point in time.

If we look at Abraham’s God of the Jewish Hebrew Tanach of the Old Testament, Abraham’s God has the Jews (Judaism) as “his chosen people.” Christianity is also of Abraham’s God, but we find that only Christians who believe in Jesus are the redeemed, and that this Jesus is God. (Trinity scenario). As we delve further there is another religion that follows Abraham’s god of the Old Testament, and that is Islam. Islam teaches that any person who is not a Muslim is an Infidel. So Abraham’s God is a God of confusion to say the least.

Each of these three religions claim to have the sole “truth.” In addition, both Judaism and Islam reject outright that Abraham’s God came to earth as an infant a mere 2000 years ago as a redeemer for Christians only. So where is the reliable documented secular evidence for Jesus? There are many respected Theologians who would like to know the answer to this puzzle as well.

MPS: Why do you consider Sarah Palin as dumb, uniformed, and because of her religious beliefs, out of touch with reality? I don’t think any of these things about her. Because of her STRONG faith in God, she’s more qualified to be nominated for vice president than any liberal, pinko nominee who wishes to be president and make this nation godless. If she were vice president this country would be what it’s supposed to be, a nation under God, for God, and by God. People like you atheists would not be allowed to spread your atheism and cause the American public to quit going to church, worship the devil, and act like a bunch of present day hippies. When Jesus comes back—and he’s coming back according to Rev. Hagee and Rev. Robertson—all you people will be left BEHIND, during the Rapture.

Reply: MPS, I can see why your upset. You probably went door to door campaigning for the McCain/Palin ticket. Now that they’ve been totally defeated you’re mad as hell and emotionally disturbed. I have to correct you, however, on your nutty notion that this is a Christianized nation. A lot of this spoof and flimflam comes from the distorted pen of rabid, religious apologist David Barton. See www.wallbuilders.com This guy is indisputably a most deceptive religious crank who has authored a book claiming America is and always was a nation founded on the Christian faith.

I hate to disappoint you, but Sarah is whether religious or not, the least qualified to assume the role of vice president of anyone ever chosen for that job. As for her faith, give me a break. Anyone who thinks talking in tongues—in a language that is undecipherable—or being blessed by an unseen Holy Ghost is not qualified to be VP. She could not help but cart her extreme religious theology with her if she had by chance assumed the role of VP. Sarah may believe what you believe but these are the same delusions that were dominate during the Dark Ages. This is the 21st. century when most of the theological absurdities that existed then, have been replaced with more humane, less noxious examples of religious thought. Of course not all religions have evolved. Religious fundamentalists worldwide, are still intent on reviving their Dark Age fantasies by whatever means possible.

Have, if it it ever happens—highly unlikely and improbable—a nice trip into the ozone during the pending Rapture.

Charlene Upenhower: You guys are outrageous! Why don’t you just accept the loving, eternal Jesus Christ the Lord, and stop this nonsense about arguing whether or not He was or wasn’t for real. If you don’t believe in Him, how can you live decently? You become decent once you accept that He is the only one that can save your a..es from the frying pan of Hell. Give me one really intelligent reason you don’t believe He’s real. And don’t get so technological that I can’t understand a darn damn thing you’re saying.

——————————————————————–

Reply: Dear Charlene, first off, thank you for your inquiry. I only posted part of what you said. I left out the more nasty parts, and the section where you said that a friend of a friend told you, that somewhere in the Middle East, there are vendors who sell (for an outrageous price) tiny slivers of wood that supposedly are from the original cross (or is that tree?) used to torture and eventually kill your nonexistent JC. I’ll overlook that and just say, that if you believe something nonexistent, is existing, that is your privilege and right. But when you—which you may or may not eventually discover—that JC is no more a reality than Zeke and his magical wand or Brenda and her talking dog, and a host of other unbelievable things, objects and beings, don’t ask the public to contribute to your expensive sessions with the local psychiatrist or New Age Guru.

And what’s so decent about being a god-believer? The most zealous god-believers get so carried away by their beliefs that they commit in-decent crimes to achieve their objectives. This is a common practice within the majority of religious faiths.
